    Pantry staples

These homemade pantry staples are the sort of things I like to make and keep in the cupboard, ready to use whenever I need them. From seasoning mixes and crispy fried onions to homemade mayonnaise, preserves and other useful basics, they're handy to have on hand and can often save you from buying the shop-bought version.
Some are ingredients to use in other recipes, while others are useful accompaniments in their own right. Best of all, because you make them yourself, you know exactly what has gone into them and can adjust the flavours to suit your own taste.
